Sausages in Batter

A classic British dish — crispy sausages baked in airy Yorkshire batter with tomatoes. Simple, hearty, and absolutely delicious family food.

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C). Fry the sausages in a pan without oil until golden on all sides.
  2. Pour vegetable oil into a 30×25×6 cm baking tin and heat it in the oven for 5 minutes until the oil begins to smoke.
  3. Sift the flour into a bowl, crack the eggs into it and add the grated horseradish. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring well to avoid lumps. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Place the fried sausages into the hot tin with oil, immediately pour the batter over them. Arrange the cherry tomatoes on the vine on top and bake for 30 minutes until the batter rises and becomes golden and crispy.
