A hearty and aromatic Eastern-style dish: tender rice with lamb mince and leek is baked in the oven until golden. Perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 500 g Leek
- 400 g Lamb mince
- 1 pcs Onion
- 200 g Rice
- 1 l Lamb broth
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
- to taste Olive oil
Instructions
- Slice the leek and sauté it in a small amount of olive oil over medium heat until it begins to turn golden, approximately 3–4 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and lamb mince, continue frying while stirring constantly until the mince turns white and the onion becomes translucent. Make sure the leek does not burn.
- Add the rice, mix well and fry for 2–3 minutes until the rice is coated with the meat juices and fat.
- Pour in the hot lamb broth, add salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish and place on the lower rack of a preheated oven. Bake at 180 °C for about an hour until all the broth is absorbed and the rice becomes tender.
- Turn off the oven, leave the door slightly ajar and allow the dish to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
