Timbits

Timbits

Canadian donut holes — crispy on the outside, tender inside small balls of dough, dusted with cinnamon and sugar. The perfect treat to enjoy with tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a deep bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then mix with milk and oil. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently stir until you have a smooth, uniform batter.
  3. Heat the frying oil to 185°C. Using a small spoon, carefully drop portions of batter (about the size of a teaspoon, no larger) into the hot oil.
  4. Fry the timbits for several minutes, turning them, until they turn golden brown on all sides.
  5. Using a slotted spoon, remove the timbits from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess fat.
  6. While the timbits are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve immediately.
