Cheese Sticks

Crispy sticks made from airy dough with stretchy mozzarella inside — the perfect appetizer to serve with beer or a light side dish that's impossible to resist.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Flour
- 0.5 cup Milk
- to taste Butter
- 1 pcs Egg
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Olive oil
- 1 kg Mozzarella
- to taste Vegetable oil
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella into long, even strips and place in the refrigerator — this will keep it firm and prevent it from softening prematurely.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, and egg. Add sugar, salt, and olive oil, and mix well. Gradually pour in the milk, kneading the dough until it reaches an elastic, homogeneous consistency.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a thin sheet and cut into long strips 2–3 cm wide. Remove the cheese strips from the refrigerator and tightly wrap each strip with a piece of dough in a spiral, making sure the cheese is completely covered — otherwise it will leak out during frying.
- Coat the finished sticks in flour — this will prevent them from sticking to the pan. Heat the vegetable oil well in a deep skillet and fry the sticks until golden brown, turning as needed.
