Spaghetti Puttanesca with Canned Sardine

A classic Italian pasta dish with a spicy sauce made from sardine, olives and tomatoes — simple, aromatic and ready in just a few minutes.
Ingredients
- 300 g Spaghetti
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 pcs Onion
- 2 clove Garlic
- 1 pcs Red hot chili pepper
- 1 tbsp Tomato paste
- 425 g Canned sardine
- 70 g Black olives
- to taste Parmesan
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet, add diced onion, crushed garlic and sliced chili pepper. Sauté over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Add tomato paste, stir and heat for 1 minute. Add the sardine with the sauce from the can, stir with a wooden spoon, breaking up the fish pieces.
- Add black olives and continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes.
- Drain the spaghetti, reserving 2–3 tablespoons of cooking water. Transfer the pasta to the skillet with the sauce and toss well.
- Divide the dish between plates and serve, sprinkled with grated Parmesan.
