Chocolate Gateau

An exquisite French dessert — a dense chocolate cake with delicate texture and rich flavor. Perfect for festive occasions and afternoon tea.
Ingredients
- 250 g Dark chocolate
- 175 g Butter
- 2 tbsp Milk
- 5 pcs Eggs
- 175 g Sugar
- 125 g Wheat flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a 20 cm round springform pan with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Break the chocolate into pieces and place in a heat-resistant bowl. Set the bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water and stir until the chocolate is completely melted. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in the microwave for 2–3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.
- In a separate bowl, beat the butter with sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. If the mixture begins to separate, add a small amount of flour.
- Carefully fold in the cooled melted chocolate and milk, then gently fold in the remaining flour. Continue stirring until you achieve a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 50–55 minutes. The cake is done when the center becomes springy and a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
