Juicy breaded chicken patty in a crispy spiced coating, marinated in pickle brine — a homemade version of the iconic American sandwich that you'll want to make again and again.
Ingredients
- 1 pcs Chicken breast fillet
- 0.25 cup Pickle brine
- 1 pcs Egg
- 0.25 cup Milk
- 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Powdered sugar
- 0.5 tsp Paprika
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 0.25 tsp Black pepper, ground
- 0.25 tsp Garlic powder
- 0.25 tsp Celery salt
- 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 cup Olive oil
- 1 pcs Sesame seed buns
Instructions
- Wrap the chicken breast fillet in plastic wrap and gently pound it with the flat side of a meat mallet to approximately 1.5 cm thickness across the entire surface. Cut into two equal-sized pieces.
- Submerge the chicken pieces in pickle brine and let marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably one hour. For a spicier version, add one teaspoon of Tabasco sauce to the brine.
- In one bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In another bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and celery salt.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade. Dip each piece in the egg-milk mixture on both sides, then thoroughly coat in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Pour olive oil into a skillet to a depth of approximately 1.5 cm and heat to 175°C. Fry each patty for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the patties to a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve on toasted sesame seed buns, adding a few slices of pickled cucumber.
