Kulach — Turkish Yogurt Bread

A simple and hearty bread made with Greek yogurt that requires no yeast. It turns out soft inside with a crispy crust — the perfect side dish for any meal.
Ingredients
- 450 g Wheat flour
- 500 g Greek yogurt
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
Instructions
- On a large baking sheet or clean work surface, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center, add the yogurt, and begin combining the ingredients into dough with your hands.
- Knead the dough on a flour-dusted surface, adding more flour as needed if it sticks. The finished dough should have the consistency of pizza dough — slightly sticky but holding its shape well. This will take a few minutes.
- Oil a baking sheet, place the dough on it, and shape it into a flat circle about 5 cm high. Brush the bread with olive oil on all sides.
- If desired, create a pattern on the surface of the dough — this helps with even baking. You can run a fork across the bread to create lines, or simply prick it with a fork.
- Place the bread on the lower rack of a preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes until it turns golden and hardens.
- Remove the kulach from the oven and let it cool on a rack or stand it upright.
- Slice the bread into 8 pieces like a regular round loaf. If serving while hot, you can simply break it apart with your hands.
