Canadian Sugar Pie

Canadian Sugar Pie

A tender and sweet dessert with a crispy crust on top and a creamy filling inside. This is a classic Canadian pie that is prepared directly in the pan and does not require pre-made dough.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 °C. Butter a 23 cm pie pan.
  2. In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the brown sugar and butter until creamy and lump-free. Add the eggs one at a time, fully mixing each one before adding the next. Add the vanilla extract and salt, then gradually add the flour and milk, stirring until you get a smooth liquid batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes.
  4. Remove the pie from the oven and cover the edges with aluminum foil to prevent them from burning. Return the pie to the oven and bake for another 15 minutes or until the center sets and a crispy crust forms on top.
  5. Let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
