Bolitas de Queso

Crispy cheese balls — a Caribbean appetizer that's impossible to eat just one of. Golden crust on the outside, stretchy melted cheese on the inside — perfect for a festive table or casual gatherings with friends.
Ingredients
- 454 g Cheddar
- 454 g Feta
- 1 pcs Eggs
- 5 tbsp Cornstarch
Instructions
- Grate the cheddar on a fine grater. Crumble the feta or grate it as well. Mix both cheeses together in a large bowl.
- Add the beaten egg and cornstarch to the cheese mixture. Stir thoroughly until you have a uniform mass that holds its shape well.
- Form the mixture into small balls about the size of a walnut. The finished balls can be frozen and stored indefinitely — fry them straight from the freezer as needed.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or deep skillet to 180°C (350°F). Add the balls in small batches and fry until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve immediately while hot — skewered on wooden picks or toothpicks.
